Confidence and Humility

My favorite memories of Tagan were getting to see him in his element as Bodhi's dad. For the last several years, the joyful backdrop of the Huguenard lab barbecues and holiday parties was Bodhi racing around with Tagan just a few steps behind, a huge grin on his face. I was also always struck on these occasions by what a wonderful and supportive partner Tagan was to Tanya, and how well the two of them shared the responsibility of keeping Bodhi out of trouble.

When we spent time with Tagan, Tanya, and Bodhi, at Waterdog Tavern or simply walking around the park in San Mateo, Tagan somehow managed to passionately discuss science and his work while simultaneously giving Bodhi his full attention.

Tagan effortlessly exuded the balance that many of us strive for but rarely achieve: confidence and humility, patience and cheerfulness, love for his career and devotion to his partner and family. The world has lost an extraordinary person, but I'm grateful to have known him and I know that his love will remain with Tanya, Bodhi, and Sophia always.
