Emulate that energy

We liked our new neighbors from the very first time we met them. Tagan, Tanya, and Bodhi had a wonderful, upbeat energy, and although Bodhi still had a little stranger danger, he seemed willing to let his guard down a bit when his dad was nearby. One of the first things we told them about was Preston’s, the ice cream and candy shop down the street. Bodhi was hiding behind Tagan at the time, but his grew big eyes when he heard about the different ice cream flavors. Afterwards he whispered to Tagan, “dad, did you hear what those people said?” Tagan smiled at us and then looked at Bodhi and said, “I sure did. Think we should check that place out?” Bodhi nodded eagerly and the two walked off together looking more like buddies than like father and son. We noticed how Tagan often talked with Bodhi as if he were a peer who just happened to be very tiny.

We had only just gotten to know Tagan, Tanya, Bodhi, and most recently Sophia, but we could tell that there was such big love between them. We often passed each other while running errands and noticed how much they all seemed to enjoy spending time with each other and how much fun they had together.

As soon-to-be first-time parents, we are inspired by the loving culture Tanya and Tagan have created, and we hope to emulate that energy with our own family. Tagan’s beautiful family continues his legacy indefinitely. To say that this time has been difficult for Tanya is a huge understatement, but Tagan would surely smile if he could see her with Bodhi having secret book clubs in the front yard, or going trick-or-treating with Sophia, the cutest little baby ghost.

Even though we only got to know Tagan for a short time, we will always remember him, and we see his love reflected in his beautiful family every day.
